The building on 200 South has been part of Pleasant Grove for more than a century. It started as a lumber mill in the early 1900s, became Thornton's Lumberyard, and even turned out survey stakes before the Gurr family brought printing under its roof in the mid-1990s.
Kevin and LaNona Gurr built CopyTec in 1993 while Kevin was still teaching drafting, engineering, and robotics and LaNona was teaching elementary school. For years it was nights, weekends, and a shared belief that a local shop could out-care and out-hustle the big chains.
In 2016 their son Cameron joined and pushed CopyTec into wide-format printing, signage, and modern online ordering. Today, with Kevin retired from teaching and all-in on the shop, it's a true family business — 33+ years of catching bad files before they print, hitting deadlines, and treating every job like it matters. Because to the person who ordered it, it does.
